Our little labour of love has finally blossomed to life. Celebrate with us today and spread the joy!
One of the most wonderful things you can do post-wedding is protect or pass on precious items to the bride and groom. Many of us don’t get to re-live the magic of generations before us with heirloom gowns, suits, tiaras, rings and garters and instead have to make do with all those pretty memories captured in old photographs.
When I was due to be married, I had hoped to include something special from my own family – a bauble, an accessory, a trinket. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be…so I started my own collection.
After I wed my beloved husband, I made sure I put aside my wedding dress, wedding veil and bridal jewellery for my daughters to wear on their own special day. So often we forget to save meaningful things to pass on to our next of kin, which I think is a great shame.
Below you’ll find some brilliant ideas to kick-start the heirloom process yourself. Like the saying goes: “Something borrowed, something new” – a winning wedding day combination!
1. Bridal Veil
Bridal veils are timeless and have barely changed throughout the eras. A good example is the retro birdcage veil which is still popular today. Cathedral and mantilla veils are classic accessories that can be passed down through the generations. Just remember to wrap up all that delicate tulle and store away carefully!
2. Bridal headpieces
Stash that bridal headpiece away for your daughters, cousins or nieces. Better still, match a La Belle hair accessory like the Mae Chignon Hair Wrap or the Chloe Golden Bridal Comb with your grandmother’ precious antique brooch or earrings.
From gifting engagement rings to bequeathing wedding bands, passing down jewellery is an emotional moment for all involved. Brides and grooms love to cherish special rings from passed-over loved ones, so make sure you keep yours clean and polished.

If you aren’t lucky enough to own a ring from a long gone grandmother or grandfather, a vintage piece of gorgeous jewellery will always suffice! Think pearl necklaces, elegant chains, tie pins, and slender bracelets.
5. Silk Handkerchief
A delightful keepsake for your son, cousin or nephew, a silk handkerchief doubles as a pocketsquare and can easily be slipped into a suit jacket. Alternatively, gift to a favourite bridesmaid to slip into a handbag.
6. Wedding Ribbon
Easy to store before passing down to younger generations, a wedding ribbon can be utilised in a number of ways including securing in the hair or tying around a wedding bouquet.

7. Wedding Gown
Don’t underestimate the power of a vintage wedding dress! Not only will you save your daughter, cousin or niece a ton of hard earned dollars, they may absolutely love its cut, fit and colour! A retro dress allows a bride to carry on family tradition. What’s more, plenty of older gowns boast a beautiful bohemian vibe and incredible fabrics from yesteryear.
8. Ring Bearer Cushion
A lovely little hand-me-down for a child ring bearer at the altar. Wrap in plastic and store away for your next family wedding. Alternatively, a cherished family Bible also makes an ideal presentation platform. Leather-bound or gold-leaf trimmed – the older the book, the better!
9. Champagne Flutes
Rarely going out of style, the classic champagne flute is an heirloom for everybody. Bestowed to both men and women, it’s the unisex gift that keeps on giving!
Intimate, sentimental and ever so pretty, the traditional bridal garter is a perfect present for a special woman in the family. If your dress is not required, this timeless accessory surely will be. Brides simply love slipping on this good luck charm, which will then be tossed to the unwed male guests!
11. Wedding Favour
Passing on a secret recipe for delicate little wedding favours is a must for any bride and groom. Maybe you’re hiding a secret love heart cookie formula or better still – chocolate mousse! I bet your grandmother holds a treasure chest of tried and tested recipes. There may even be one for a wedding cake amongst the mix – ring her and ask her!
12. Wedding Vow
Book Carry on a time-old tradition by gifting romantic inscriptions in a wedding vow book. Generations can pen vows and musings on the pages as a continual living document!

Ladies, step into a wedding wonderland!
Recently, La Belle was invited to be a part of a high-style bridal shoot, organised and photographed by Pictures and Hearts Photography. The shoot featured on the gorgeous White Magazine Blog (an online mecca where romance and artistry collide).
Brought to life in a minimalist studio in leafy Surry Hills, Sydney, the day was awash with the brightest whites, complimented by caramel hues, powder pink trinkets, and a spray of native Australian foliage. The bride captivated in lacy lingerie, floral hair adornments, and an ethereal full-length veil by yours truly – La Belle, whilst bridal dress virtuoso Karen Willis Holmes provided truly spectacular gowns.
ALC Events decorated the venue with romantic accompaniments such as emerald botanicals, ornate silver dishes (The Wedding Collector), delicate glassware, antique books, and an array of old world furniture (Willow Tree Vintage). Talented makeup artist Yen Xinn painted the bride (note earthy shimmering eyelids and peach tinted lips), whilst paper artist Stuart McLachlan and calligrapher Teresa Ling crafted sublime wedding invitations.
I am so very thankful to our favourite vendors for making this dream a reality! It’s time to fantasize. See it all unfold below…

THE ART OF FLAT LAY PHOTOGRAPHY | BRIDAL FASHION | BRIDAL STYLE | BRIDAL HAIR ACCESSORY | LA BELLE THE LABEL
Flat lay photography is all the rage right now. One peek at your Instagram feed and you’ll notice highly stylised images jam-packed with fashion items, trinkets, and other dreamy goods. Here at La Belle, we love a good flat lay picture. It’s a clever way to curate all your favourite items and tell a story whilst you’re at it.
Recently, La Belle collaborated with Dominique Flowers (a Sydney based botanical art and design studio specialising in romantic arrangements and creative direction for editorial shoots, weddings and events), and We Are Origami (a Sydney photography studio run by visionary soul mates David and Belle).
Be inspired by our flay lay wedding shoot and pick up some handy tips and tricks along the way.
HOW TO MASTER THE ART of FLAT LAY PHOTOGRAPHY:
1) Select items that are cohesive. Telling a story through aesthetics is relatively easy if you marry your items to a single theme and pleasing colour palette.
2) Shoot in a square. This means no cropping come presentation time. All your gorgeous items will be visible through the camera, or on your cell phone screen.
3) Composition is everything. Think carefully about how you’ll place your items. Do you seek a minimalist look or an over the top vibe? Sometimes it’s smart to select a feature item and cascade the others around it.
4) Find good lighting. Natural sun makes metallics and gemstones to shimmer and allows colours truly pop! Inside lights can cast a soft and beautiful glow over the shoot. Play around until you find the perfect balance.
5) Cheat a little with filters. Or if you’re a real stickler for perfection, jump onto Adobe Photoshop if you are using a DSLR camera, for a little touching up. Alternatively, if you are using an Iphone or Android, there are plenty of free apps you can use to edit your photos like: Snapseed, A Color Story, VSCO, etc. I hear Afterlight is a great app for Iphone users!
6) Snap away. A bird’s eye view will serve you well. If you’re feeling a little artistic, angle the camera ever so slightly.
Dream big. Have fun. And if you’ve got any clever tips and tricks for styling the perfect flat lay photograph, please share them with us in the comments box below.

DESERT WEDDING | THE PINNACLE OF PERFECTION | BRIDAL HAIR ACCESSORIES | WEDDING VEILS | WEDDING ANNIVERSARY SHOOT | LA BELLE THE LABEL
Here at La Belle, we love nothing more than a wedding. We also love it when our favourite couples up the game and celebrate their anniversaries in high style! Meet Brooke and Jarrod. They did just that when they wandered into the vast, natural wonder of Australia’s breathtaking Pinnacles (a desert landscape located in Nambung National Park, famous for its jagged rocks, golden sand dunes, and sparkling blue Indian Ocean).
Photographed by the visionary Katie Grant, Brooke transformed into an ethereal goddess thanks to a dramatic embroidered and beaded gown by MXM Couture, hair and makeup by Ham Creative, an exquisite native bouquet by Natural Art Flowers, and a translucent veil and botanical crown by yours truly, La Belle (note the delicate jewelled blooms dancing on dainty crooked branches).
Plume Calligraphy penned the ever so elegant invites and name cards which were made even dreamier by granules of golden sand that drifted across them thanks to the gentle sea breeze.
Warm rays of sunshine cast an otherworldly light across the whole affair, emphasizing the luxurious colour bleed of Brooke’s floaty train, and her rich cocoa tresses enveloped by our sublime silk tulle veil. If only every anniversary could look this magical!

Exquisite hues of ivory met lush green foliage and show-stopping blooms in a shoot for Hello May magazine – an exciting professional bridal blog and magazine. La Belle’s ethereal silk tulle veil and flower studded hair adornment featured prominently in a collection of truly impressive images, captured by master photographer Katie Grant.
BRIDAL HEADPIECE & VEIL AT MOANNA, PERTH WEDDING
Besides an alter resplendent with trailing ivy, and lit by the incandescent flicker of pillar candles, our beautiful bride transformed into a gorgeous goddess, thanks to glam squad Kristy Ellen (makeup artist), hair guru Kayla Marshall, and bridal gown maker Tegan Tyrell. Fastened above a plaited chignon, the bloom strewn golden branches of La Belle’s opulent hair accessory added glitter to the big day look, whilst our fine and floaty wedding veil contributed to an air of old world allure, cascading gracefully to the floor.
Shot at the historic Moana Chambers – a prominent gallery and creative space in Perth, WA – talented wedding stylist Stacey Clark artfully arranged a reception table with simple vanilla crockery, stylish silver cutlery, fern frond detailing, and a creative dinner menu by stationer and calligrapher Michaela McBride. We’re still swooning! What about you?
AUSTRALIAN BRIDAL COUTURE WEDDING | BRIDAL VEIL | GOLD WEDDING CIRCLET | PALLAS COUTURE | LA BELLE THE LABEL
Recently, La Belle took great pleasure in being featured in a haute couture photoshoot, seen on the blog Green Wedding Shoes, and shot in the dreamy natural setting of the Australian bush. This sublime bridal spoltlight showcased one of our favourite shades: navy blue (check out those super sweet macaroons). It’s safe to say that the photographs remain some of our all-time favourites!
Under fragrant eucalypts, amongst ethereal native grasses, La Belle’s boho inspired golden foliage wreath and silk tulle veil accompanied a duo of incredible Pallas Couture wedding gowns – modelled by the beautiful Ebony from Vivienne Model Management, under the watchful eye of Bali based wedding stylists Paper Diamonds. A gorgeous table setting was brought to life with artful hand lettering by Plume Calligraphy, whilst the supremely talented Katie Grant – professional photographer – captured every minute of magic with her lens.
Crowning a mane of lustrous chocolate hair, our bridal wreath shimmered brilliantly in soft copper-hued sunlight that filtered through the overhead foliage. Freshwater pearls shone with subtle iridescence. Diamante jewels dazzled.
